Here we are at the Holy Week, the week leading up to Easter. Christians have used this time to reflect on Christ’ journey to the cross, the grave, and the empty tomb. For thousands of years millions of believers have found insights in these reflections. None of that matters though without action. If we don’t apply what is revealed it’s like watching water going downstream: lost forever. I encourage you this week to reflect. Journey in the practice fellow followers have been practicing countless times before. Set aside time to read the accounts of Jesus last week on earth in the final chapters of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Consider each moment Christ entered. And let’s go further and allow the story to change us. Let the story change how you see the world. Let the story change how you think. Let the story create new habits that merge your identity into Christ.
Does that sound impossible? It should at least sound difficult. Reading the story is the easy part. Pulling out truths, ingesting its wisdom, and creating new actions is what sounds challenging. You may be tempted to delegate this job to your pastor or favorite devotional author. This is reasonable if you have recently discovered a life with Jesus. Spiritual growth is the job of the disciple. We are taught to grow ourselves. We are responsible to grow ourselves. What makes this possible is the Holy Spirit at work in us. Part of our journey through God’s Word is learning to let God’s Word speak to us.
So walk through the story and let Holy Spirit make it come alive to you. Let Holy Spirit draw out active steps to take. Follow His coaching and let your change be a life changing transformatio!
