Real Nuggets

Is anyone else a chicken nugget connoisseur? I love ‘em!!! In fact, I would broaden my love for chicken nuggets to strips, wings, buffalo wings, and all manor of breaded fowl. However, not all nuggets are created equal. Let‘d compare McDonald’s McNuggets with Chick-Fil-A nuggets. While I enjoy McNuggets, there is a huge difference! McNuggets are obviously a very low grade of chicken hiding in McDonald’s secret breading recipe. On the other hand, Chick-Fil-A, has a high quality chicken.

I’m wondering, if my spiritual life was a chicken nugget, would I be a McNugget or Chick-Fil-A strip. Both nuggets look similar. They are both fast food. They cost about the same and they are both chicken. Christians can all look the same on the surface. We may all act similar in our church lobbies.
 

To discover the quality of a person’s faith, like the nugget, you must look beneath the surface. Let’s look under the surface of our faith. Similar to the nuggets, it’s the quality ingredients that make all the difference. Are you investing quality time into your relationship with Jesus? Are you investing quality time into a community of faith that will both support you and challenge you in your faith? Are you putting forth quality effort to live out your faith in your city? Are serving the marginalize? Are you sharing your faith with others?

I will close with this prayer, “God, help us search our lives. What ingredients do you want to put into our faith to help us upgrade our life with you?”
